Love is "the most excellent way" (1st Cor. 1:31). We want students to learn how to love God with all their heart and soul and mind and strength (Mt. 22:37). We want to engage not only their minds, but their hearts and souls and physical abilities in learning the truth of these subjects, and finding Christ who is the Truth in them (Jn. 14:3).
God Himself originated math, science, technology, language, art and history in His acts of creation. He is “loving toward all He has made” (Ps. 145:17). Though man has corrupted all these fields, we still have the responsibility of God-given dominion over them.
So one crucial task is to teach students how to love and be responsible to God, their family, community, nation and world, in order of priority. That is difficult in a society where most kids feel neglected by their parents. It is hard for kids to believe in a God who is committed to them when their own parents aren't.
They also feel neglected by their community, which provided few venues for youth activity; by their nation, which allows much child abuse, child rape & kidnapping to go unprosecuted; and by the world, which overwhelms them with media images of high-tech living which is far beyond their reach. And their future is threatened by the encroachment of foreigners who are using high-tech means to compete with local business.
