"Like a tree planted by streams of water" —Psalm 1:3
About Tree Of Life
From
1997 to early 2003, we were known by the name Living Waters Missions.
Living waters means the Spirit’s filling in John 4 and the Spirit’s
overflowing in John 7. And we’ve witnessed the Holy Spirit move and
living waters flow abundantly on Caye Caulker and beyond, in power and
miracles and—most of all, close encounters with God’s heart. He has
delivered people from hard-core addictions and at various times healed
every major body part from head to toe. The Lord has dramatically answered
prayers for jobs, finances, family, friends, emotional healing, night-club
shutdowns, immediate weather changes and—most of all—for close
encounters with His heart. He has given us many visions and dreams. And we
are starting to see them come true.
God
gave us a vision of a meeting place near the center of Caye Caulker
village. A few months later a strategic storefront space opened, and we
moved in. God gave us visions for training children and youth, and now we
have Children’s Church and Youth Church. God gave us a vision of
obtaining land here. A few months later, we bought a 100x285' lot on the
outskirts of the village. God gave us a vision of a high school on this
island, where there is no high school. This dream has taken a few years to
come true, but that has given us time to prepare for a great first year
with facilities, landscaping, curriculum, teaching requirements, student
leadership training, discipline policy, local advisory board, scholarship
program, budget, annual financial compilation, proper documentation, and
development plans in place, with a vision to grow as the island keeps
growing, into more levels of learning and practical applications to the
community. We plan to see students become teachers and eventually take
leadership of our school, fellowship and ministries–and start more of
their own! See High School and Purpose.
God
has given us a vision for discipleship and leadership training. Pastors
here often say that evangelism is easy in Belize, but discipleship is
difficult. We need the living waters of the Spirit to flow, but we also
need to see more people become rooted in God’s word, abide in Him daily,
and produce good fruit. To be "like a tree planted by streams of
water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers" (Ps. 1:3). So we changed our name to Tree
of Life Ministries. See Priorities and Leadership
Training links for more.
